Snowflake from Cornelius Public Library

This is from a kit provided by the Cornelius Public Library.

Wrap white yarn around a piece of cardboard and tie it off in the middle.  Cut the yarn off the cardboard. Tie a bead to the center tie.  This will create the nose.  Take 12 strands of yarn from each side of the middle tie. Combined and tie off.  Again add a bead.  Repeat along the other side of the middle tie.  Create six more "arms" by gathering around 20 strands and tying them.  Attach a bead to each one.  Glue eyes above the center bead and a felt mouth underneath the bead.  Attach a piece of yarn to the top arm to use as a hanger.

Mardi Gras Wreath Revamp

I decided my Mardi Gras wreath needed to be re-vamped.  I created the original wreath the first Mardi Gras after evacuating to Portland, Oregon after Hurricane Katrina.  I have faithfully hung it on my door every year since.  I decided this year it needed a makeover. Below is a picture of the original wreath

After a trip to the Dollar Tree, I created a wreath that is much tackier but reflects the fun of Mardi Gras.   I admit I bought beads but being in Oregon during a pandemic I had no way to earn the beads so I hope the Mardi Gras police forgive me lol

Winter Luminary

Clean a recycled glass jar  This one is a yogurt cup.  Using Dimensional Magic, adhere ripped pieces of vintage paper to cover the design on the glass.  Let dry.

Mix white glitter and Epson Salt together.  Brush dimensional magic on the bottom part of the jar covering part of the paper.  Cover the glue with the Epsom Salt mixture.  Let dry.  Tie jute twine around the jar.  Pour the remaining salt/glitter mixture into the jar and place a tea light in it.

This kit is from the West Linn Public Library.

Clothes Pins Magnets

This quick craft is a kit I received from Tigard Public Library.  During the Covid Pandemic libraries in my area are offering craft kits to do at home.

Adhere washi tape to the long side of a clothespin and then adhere different washi tape into the inside of the pin.  Cut a magnetic strip to size and adhere to the back of the pin.

Snowman Ornament

Adhere two size styrofoam balls together with hot glue.  Mix Elmer's white glue and water together.  Dip white tissue paper into the glue mix.  Cover the styrofoam balls.  Let dry for 24 hours.  Glue the pipe cleaner to the "head" and then glue the black pompoms where the ears should be.  Stick the silver pipe cleaners into the side of the large ball.  Cut out two mittens from red felt and adhere over the end of the pipe cleaners.  Stick an orange toothpick into the center of the smaller ball to create a nose.  Draw the eyes, mouth, and buttons on the snowman.  Cut a piece of green ribbon and adhere it to the neck like a scarf.
